Don’t Tease Me!!

There’s a new ballad on the block.

Nearly 14 years after breaking up, the ’90s boy band New Kids On The Block are back with a new ballad on their official Web site.

The song (its name isn’t revealed) plays over a promotional video for the band that says the Kids once had it all – a $1 billion in album sales, millions of fans, with music that “influenced a generation” – but then “walked away from it all.”

The video next teases the a comeback, asking: “Are you ready?”

The song, a source says, was recorded by all five Kids last November in Orlando

Sorry it has been so long…still been having internet problems.

Rent Sets June 1 Closing Date on Broadway

After a Broadway run of more than 12 years, Rent has set a June 1 closing date. The landmark musical will have played 5,012 performances and 16 previews at the Nederlander Theatre upon closing, making it the seventh longest running show in Broadway history with a gross of more than $280 million, according to producers Jeffrey Seller, Kevin McCollum and Allan S. Gordon.

Written by Jonathan Larson and directed by Michael Greif, Rent opened on April 29, 1996, following a sold-out, extended limited engagement at off-Broadway’s New York Theatre Workshop. The musical went on to win every major Best Musical award, including the Tony, and became one of only seven musicals to win the Pulitzer Prize for drama. Tragically, Larson did not live to see his show’s success; he died of an aortic aneurysm on January 25 after Rent’s final dress rehearsal at NYTW.

Rent launched the careers of a stellar group of young actors, including Taye Diggs, Wilson Jermaine Heredia (who won the show’s only Tony for acting as Angel), Jesse L. Martin, Idina Menzel, Adam Pascal, Anthony Rapp and Daphne Rubin-Vega. Many of the original cast re-created their roles in a feature film released in 2005. Rapp and Pascal returned to the show for a limited engagement last summer.

Inspired by Puccini’s La Bohème, Rent tells the story of a group of young artists struggling in New York’s East Village in the early 1990s and the obstacles they face, including AIDS, homelessness, poverty, lack of healthcare and homophobia. The show addresses issues that had not been touched on in musicals and became an immediate hit with audiences of all ages. But even its stronger supporters could not have predicted that Rent would run on Broadway for 12 years.

Trader Joe’s

When Jack and I were in NYC, she had a thing for bags…especially the tote kind….
One day we were shopping in Steve and Barry’s  and she loved this woman’s bag so she went over to her and asked where she could get it and what kind of store it was and where it was…It was from Trader Joe’s, which is a grocery store and she told her where it was generally….
Jack was so excited, when we were back at the hotel she whipped out the phone book and found the store and phoned them and asked them their hours and everything.  We didn’t make it there right away it was a couple of days later.  And it took some work…we went up and down a few streets and asked a guy for directions who confused us because he said go there and turn right, but he pointed left….but the even funnier thing was we both noticed that he did that but neither of use said anything to him…we waited till he walked away and went what??
Anyway we found it…and Jack bought a few of the bags and even talked me into getting one.  We also got some good fruit and some amazing cookies at the store.  And we ate them sitting on the curb? or something at Union Square Park I think, while we people watched…very fun….
Anyway, the bag….  We have Jack with it in Central Park….the picture was of her though.  Then we have me with it, but that was more for the bag, I remember Jack even saying that…oh have the bag in the pic because it was her that was carrying it not me….
And finally the glamour shots of the bag!!

Don’t get me wrong I am not making fun. It is a very kewl bag and it is a great story. :-)

Center of Attention..who? me? No!!

So, awhile back some of us at work were having a conversation in the lunch room about that book, The Secret.  I haven’t read it but some people had and the conversation was all about what you want, is it just money, etc.  And I said I wanna be a rock star and someone asked me do you want to sing or do you want the attention….
And I thought about it, and yeah…I want the attention.  I want thousands of people screaming for me and singing along with my songs…etc.
Which I don’t understand, because I am the least attention seeking person I know.  When we play Cranium I refuse to do the acting portions even if I am playing with all friends.   I won’t sing Kareoke….though that is because I can’t sing to save my life…my other road block to being a rock star…
But if I could have one talent, it would be to sing…so I could be a rock star and get all the attention apparently….

Just a little look into my pysche for ya… ;-)

Bubba Gump!

When Jack and I were in New York we ate at Bubba Gump’s Shrimp Factory. I do believe it was the only chain we went to, Jack’s observation, not mine.
Anyway, the food was great, but the drinks were even better.  They were these, chocolate, ice cream, Kahula, amazing drinks…and even kewler we got to keep the glasses.
Needless to say, packing was bit tight on the way home….and my glass did not make it in one piece, close but not quite.

So my super sweet sister offered to send me hers….unfortunately on the way to the post office, she dropped the box she was sending me..whoops.
Her intentions were fantastic…the results, not quite so good.

Oh, well…we will just have to go back to get more. :-)

Stupid Computer

Hello All, (Who read this)
My computer has been being difficult lately, it doesn’t always want to see the internet so I can’t connect. I have called Dell a couple of time and I am always on the phone with them for forever and they try a million random things until it works, but it only ever works for a short time.  Very frustrating!!
So, my first priority when I do connect is not usually to blog… so until I get this figured out…there may be fewer posts.
