Dean Roland of Collective Soul is HOT!! Total rockstar.
I was kinda obsessed with getting a good picture of him, which is hard to do when he never
gets the spotlight. But I tried. He has an awesome smile, but I could never get it on camera either.
To be honest, the only reason I own any Collective Soul music is because the CD was produced
by my cousin. It is a good CD!
They came to Fort Mc, and I probably would not have gone to see them except for the fact that
Theory of a Deadman was playing too. But I am glad I did.
It was fun, just watching Ed Roland the lead singer…who may or may not have been chemically
enhanced. And I also got to stare at his hot brother.

Some Clips!! This one demonstrates Ed Roland’s fun “Stage Presence”
I was so excited, I thought they were going to cover AC/DC…but no. They were only teasing.
There is a lot of Dean in this one as well.
I kinda forgot how much I like these guys. They were at the 2nd night of the music festival.
I bought their new album after the concert, and I LOVE it.
Theory of a Deadman - there is one more guitar player, but he stayed on the other side of the
stage so I never got a pic of him.
I had originally seen them in Taber, but they didn’t have any adult socks I liked, and I tried
the website, but they don’t ship to Canada….but I did find some missmatched flip-flops in
Taber.
I didn’t even tell Crystal the sock dilemna, she just saw the flip-flops…but yet she knew….
Once again, have never heard of him.
But apparently he is quite popular…and a little freaky.
He had a blues thing going on, he was ok, but played too long when we were just waiting for
Corb!
Ridley Bent also played at the Big Spirit Music Festival on Friday. I had never heard of him
before. When he came on stage, he had this big hat on and we couldn’t really tell what he
looked like or how old he was. His music seemed pretty old school and his band seemed
older as well…so Crystal and I weren’t really feeling it, to be honest we were making fun
of him. In our defense, we were both wicked tired from the night before and therefore
grumpy.
So this is what we saw and heard….
Not really feeling it….
Then he starts singing this song…… And check out his dancing….
The song is called David Harley’s Son
So this caught my attention, I thought it was pretty kewl. We figured he must be younger than we thought.
Later on when Corb Lund was playing, there was this guy behind us dancing with a girl….then we figured out it was him. Crazy!! He looked like this now, much more his own age.
What was so funny was his verse in Corb’s song “Always keep an edge on your Knife”, it was something about a joint.
So I downloaded the song above and did some searching on YouTube, apparently he has quite the following and even has a song about him…called I’d go straight for Ridley Bent by Kate Reid.
He will also be at Big Valley, that is kewl. I would like to see him some more.
On Friday night of the Big Spirit Music Festival Corb Lund and the Hurtin’ Albertans performed.
They rocked, I love them. The crowd could have been a bit more into it though. But it was still
a lot of fun.
Some pics and videos I took.
I took a ton of pics, but most are blurry due to the lack of flash and the moving target.
This one is my favourite.
Some Clips and one full song.
The quality of the videos are actually better than they look, but YouTube stretches them to their size.
Hair In My Eyes (Like a Highland Steer)
Roughest Neck Around
Hurtin’ Albertan - Yes, that is my “wooo” at the mention of Taber.

I had a pretty busy weekend.
On Thursday, we took Jo out to celebrate her birthday before she headed to Toronto for Holidays. Friday, I went to the Big Spirit Music Festival, and Saturday went to a potluck and then the 2nd night of the music festival.
